I haven't drawn this guy in yonks. I actually drew this as a quick thing the other day, but I couldn't (rather, I kept forgetting to) bring it over to the main computer and upload it, what with the internet crashing.
Anyways, my water reptillian, Tyranu, leaping out of the sea. I always envisioned a scene like this for him and I finally was able to draw it. I know the sea looks a bit crappy, but I argue that it was a speed painting. (:
I want to chew that right hind leg off.
EDIT: I just realised that my last 3 deviations (including this one) had the moon somewhere in the pic. That's funny. C:
Never got to comment on this one but...Yey, action scene! Yey for...depicting an actual scene, with an original pose. And composition. And atmosphere. And color.
Such are the traits of Splat arts that I envy muchmuch. I love how you always manage to draw such distinct poses and scenes for all your artwork. Nothing looks repetitive and all the creatures you draw (human included!) all have their own distinct look to them, including anatomy and proportional properties, not to mention expression and personality traits. Even if there are moons, your pieces all look distinctly different yet still retain the same essential style without it all "looking the same" and getting boring. That in itself is impressive.
For this specific piece, I love the colors and your work with the blues. How passive yet captivating. The pose and break out of the water...that moment that you captured seems to give Tyranu a sense of..."balance"...? Or more so, he seems "heavy", as if the leap and break from the surface tension seems to have been a difficult one. Perhaps this is due to the way you drew the water that all the drops seem to have been captured midway and "stopped in time", giving the water drops an almost...heavy feel to them? Sounds odd, perhaps, but I think it makes for a very interesting image. Good job nonetheless. I always look forward to seeing new uploads from you. :}
Squee! <3 Thanks for your comment, KaiKai. As always, it's very much appreciated. I find that sometimes my pieces get repetitive in the sense that I always draw moons. xD My anatomy isn't quite spot-on most of the time, but it works. Teeheee.
Whenever I do these types of leaping out of the water pictures (which I don't do often, haha!), I really love capturing the waterdrops in midair. I dunno, to me it seems as though the water has an ethereal quality (particularly at night), and I hoped to achieve that. The heaviness, I would agree with you. Haha, Tyranu's a fat blob. xD The poor liddle tyke. -shakes head-
Anyways, YOU must upload more too you know. Mmhmm. And once we get better internet, oC TIME! -salutes-

Anatomy doesn't always have to be perfect to the last drop, but I find yours varies very much in the best way. (Ie: Yours cats do not have the same anatomy as your dogs. )
Yes, it does! Haha. Not that, but I suppose since he is rather big in the piece too...and his coloring is so solid, he looks...well, solid. And that makes me feel that gravity would be pulling on him. (I make sense, eh?)
Yes. Better internets and then I can steal SplattySplat's amazing oC techniques. Oh yes.
